Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Gary W. Black is alerting Georgians to the recall of a number of branded and private label sandwich, salad, dessert and side dish products produced by SunBurst Foods of Goldsboro, NC.The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services recalled the products after routine testing and sampling demonstrated a potential for contamination by Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is an organism that can cause foodborne illness in a person that eats an item contaminated with it. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal issues such as nausea and diarrhea. The illness primarily affects pregnant women and adults with weakened immune systems. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill.
The affected products are branded as one of the following: SunBurst, Fresh Bites, River Edge Farms, CFW, Southern Zest, CJ's Vending, Binford Street Deli, Middle Georgia Vendors, Roanoke Foods, Select Foods and Jesse Jones (Double Chili Dogs).
The affected products include all codes, all sell-by dates and all sizes of the following products associated with the above-mentioned brands:
