RECALL: Baby Food Product Could Contain Coliforms

Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Gary W. Black is alerting Georgians to the recall of select lots of baby food products produced by Stonyfield.

Internal testing revealed a possibility that some product shipped from Stonyfield's Londonberry plant may be affected by coliform contamination. Coliforms are a group of bacteria found in plant material, water and soil, as well as the digestive tracts and feces of humans and animals. Water system tests indicate the presence of coliforms and a second, positive test requires more tests for fecal coliforms or Escherichia coli. Some types of E. coli can cause serious illness.

The recalled products were distributed to Target stores in Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and to Wal-Mart stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware.

The affected packages are four-ounce six-packs of YoBaby Peach/Pear cups with the code date June 5, 2014, and UPC code 052159701161.

Georgia Department of Agriculture inspectors will be checking to make sure the recalled products are removed from sale. Consumers who have the recalled product should return open and unopened containers to the retailer to be reimbursed.
